Read a Message from the President and CEO
The Family Medicine Residency at St. Elizabeth Medical Center welcomes you
and invites you to learn more of what makes our program special. In a time when
fewer medical students are choosing Family Medicine as a specialty, our program
has filled its eight residency positions annually since 1990.
The Family Medicine Board passing rate of our residents on first attempt is
99%. More than 200 residents have graduated since the program’s
beginning in 1974. Residents enjoy working at St. Elizabeth, and graduates are
proud of and very complementary of their residency training.
Reasons for the program’s success are many, but the primary reason lies in
the remarkable people associated with it. Enthusiasm, commitment, pursuit of
excellence, and progressive thinking accurately describe the Family Medicine
attendings, who assume responsibility for residents’ maximum development.
Our residency director has been the 2002-2003 Kentucky Medical Association
President. He is also intensely committed to the residents, and they benefit
greatly from his experience. Residents also grow in their autonomy and
competence through working closely with physicians in all medical specialties as
the sole residency within the medical center. The medical center has earned
numerous national awards, and the facility benefits from and strongly supports
Family Medicine residents and the program. You are personally invited to learn
more about our residency. We’d welcome the opportunity to talk or visit with
you.
